Isabella d’Este, Marchioness of Mantua, is one of the most illustrious women in History, and her spirit is still living within her private rooms.
Although the most of Isabella’s art collection has been dispersed amongst the most important museums in the world, some pieces still remain in Mantua.
And the fine frescos, the precious wooden inlays, the gilded ceilings and a ‘secret garden’ still tell us a lot about the woman who, even in her own lifetime was named “The First Lady of the Renaissance”.
As Isabella’s rooms are not always open to visitors, they might be not included in the usual visitor’s route within the Ducal Palace. VISITMANTUA will be happy to help its clients obtain a special opening, wherever possible.
